Just rewatched the trilogy recently, and I still find the depth of character development and storytelling in LOTR absolutely phenomenal. The way Tolkien's world is brought to life on screen never fails to astound me. Anyone else feel the same way?

So, who's up for a debate about the best LOTR character? For me, it's always been Samwise Gamgee. His loyalty and bravery often go overlooked, but he's truly the unsung hero of the trilogy! What do you guys think?

I might be biased but I think the casting for the trilogy was impeccable too. Each actor really embodied their characters, don't you think? And let's not forget Howard Shore's epic score, it still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it! By the way, any thoughts on the upcoming Amazon series based on LOTR? I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'm curious to know your thoughts on the portrayal of female characters in the trilogy. I've always been fascinated by Eowyn's character arc. She's a strong woman in a predominantly male-centered narrative and her defeating the Witch-king? Iconic! Also, how do you feel about the character of Galadriel? She's incredibly powerful yet enigmatic. And about the upcoming Amazon series, I sure hope they maintain the essence of Tolkien's world and do justice to our beloved characters.

Absolutely agree with you on the character development, Sophia. Tolkien's world is indeed a masterpiece and the movies did an excellent job of portraying it. As for the best character, I'd have to go with Aragorn. His journey from Strider to king is just amazing to watch. I agree about Samwise being an unsung hero too!
The casting? Spot-on! I can't imagine anyone else playing these characters. Howard Shore's music is indeed the soul of the trilogy, and I can't wait to hear what he has in store for us in the Amazon series.
Regarding the portrayal of female characters, I think Eowyn and Galadriel were both strong and impactful in their own ways. Eowyn's defiance of gender norms and Galadriel's mysterious yet powerful presence added depth to the story.
As for the upcoming Amazon series, I too am cautiously optimistic. I just hope they can recreate the magic of Middle-earth while staying true to Tolkien's vision. Can't wait to discuss it further with you all once it's out!

Great points, William! Aragorn's journey is indeed one of the most satisfying character arcs in the trilogy. I love how his character grows from a reluctant hero to a true king who's worthy of his lineage. And yes, his portrayal by Viggo Mortensen was nothing short of perfect!
I'm glad we agree on the representation of Eowyn and Galadriel. They indeed added a unique flavor to the story. I'm excited to see if and how the Amazon series will introduce and develop female characters.
And yes, let's definitely continue our discussions once the series is out! It's always a pleasure to share thoughts and opinions with fellow LOTR enthusiasts like you. Until then, may we all stay 'ever watchful' for any news or updates about the series!
